Essential oils have long been used to treat infections caused by bacteria or viruses and, in contrast to antiseptics or antibiotics, show fewer or no side effects. Scientific studies also describe good success in the reduction of periodontopathogenic bacteria in the therapy of periodontal diseases.
There are a variety of essential oils to choose from, each with specific properties and readily available. These include, for example:
It has been shown that the individual periodontitis bacteria react with varying sensitivity to different oils. Mixtures of essential oils are therefore particularly effective. The result report of the PadoTest® shows which bacteria were detected and in which concentration. The result of the PadoTest® is thus the basis for selecting an optimally effective mouthwash concentrate based on essential oils.
At Parodolium®, for example, there is a small calculator to help with product selection: Enter the corresponding concentrations for the respective bacteria in Paradolium mouth rinses and then click "Empfehlung berechnen". This will provide you with the optimal Parodolium® mouth rinse concentrate for the proven germ spectrum.
Alternatively, the optimally effective oil mixture based on the PadoTest® result can also be made at the pharmacy. Or you can put something together yourself.
Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans is a tissue- and cell-invasive bacterium that cannot be effectively reduced by aromatherapy, but may require adjuvant antibiosis. For this reason, the indication of this germ in the aroma oil calculator is omitted.
